What do you mean by Win-Win Solutions?

We simply mean that the use of our products often brings multiple benefits.  The grower might find they get a better crop and can cut back on other inputs. Or they get better nutrient uptake and see less harmful runoff into precious waterways.  Or the plant becomes more frost resistant and less susceptible to fungal attack.  These are real examples reported by our customers. 

In a world that is demanding less chemical use and greater sustainability in agriculture, the multiple, natural benefits we offer the grower and the environment are central to our philosophy.  After all, who doesn’t want win-win solutions?

Can Wormtech Canopy and Wormtech Ground be mixed with other sprays?

No.  Being living products, they cannot be mixed with chemical sprays, and spray units must be
well cleaned before Wormtech products are used.

Do I need Grosafe certificate to apply Wormtech Canopy or Wormtech Ground?

No. You need only a normally calibrated spray unit as per Eurepgap.  Being safe natural products,
no official recording or withholding period rules apply, and you you don’t even need to wear a spacesuit!

Can I put Wormtech Canopy or Wormtech Ground through my irrigation system?

Certainly, and this is a very cost effective and flexible option.  We will be happy to assist you in
calibrating your venturi, or in sourcing one if needed.

What are Wormtech Canopy and Wormtech Ground?

Wormtech Canopy is a living product derived from high quality vermicast and finely filtered for
use in orchard spray units, and irrigation systems. It is intended for spraying up into the canopy,
for direct absorption and runoff into the soil. A full breakdown of microbial content and nutrients
is listed on our EurepGap data sheet, available from Wormtech. 

Wormtech Ground is essentially the same as Wormtech Canopy but with the addition of 10%
humic acid, which is known to promote biological activity in the soil.  It is intended as a substitute
for solid compost, to aid breakdown of mulched prunings, and for direct ground injection via
Ground Probe Aerators.

What do Wormtech Canopy and Wormtech Ground do?

Put simply, Wormtech improves the link between the plant and the soil. It converts the nutrients
(which would otherwise be locked up in the soil or leached out) into a form available to the roots
of the plant. It also promotes biological activity in the soil, and when applied to the foliage, it
stimulates a biological response which enhances leaf condition and strength.

Who are Wormtech?

Wormtech is NZ's largest producer of liquid vermicast products.  We are based in the Bay of Plenty
and have been servicing the kiwifruit industry (and other crops) since the year 2000.  We are a
private company and the directors are Greg Walker and Kevin Massey.

How long do Wormtech Canopy and Wormtech Ground store for?

Our use by dates are generally one year from manufacture. Tests have shown that the
beneficial Bacillus sp within the mix have actually increased over time. The longest we are
aware of someone still using a drum of Wormtech Canopy quite effectively is four years on
young Avacados.
